What is GeoPave Tree Pit Pack - Overview?

Traditional open tree pits and metal grilles often encounter several problems such as weeds, litter, waste build up, trip hazards and in many cases vandalism. By Installing a GeoPave Tree Pit system it will alleviate many of these issues. The GeoPave surface is flat and even, weed growth is reduced and litter cannot collect underneath the grilles. A resin bound system is unique as it can be applied abut to the tree trunk without damaging the tree and the roots are fed with the rain water that percolates through the GeoPave's surface, without the need for watering tubes. An expansion collar can be fitted around a younger tree, allowing for the tree's growth.

A GeoPave Tree Pit Pack consists of a cold applied two component resin bound system used in conjunction with selected aggregate. The resin is supplied as a 4.0kg pack consisting of two components - an activator and a base, which are mixed together during the application process to produce the binder for the aggregate. Aggregate is normally supplied in 25kg bags and can be purchased from various aggregate suppliers. The aggregate must be clean, dry and contamination free prior to be used with GeoPave Tree Pit resin.

Where can GeoPave Tree Pit Pack be used?

Open Tree Pits within car parks, city landscaping, urban regeneration schemes, office grounds and as part of an environmentally friendly solution.

Application

The two resin components are mixed together using a drill and paddle thoroughly. A mixer is charged with the selected aggregate and circulated a few times prior to adding the resin. The resin and aggregate is then mixed together until all of the aggregate has been fully coated. The mix is transported to the tree pit application area in a polythene lined wheelbarrow. It is then tipped into the tree pit whole, spread out across the application area using a rake and finally trowel finished by compacting and smoothing. A comparatively flat, even finish is achieved.
